Japan's LED giant Nichia Corp. and HTC have added a lawsuit! Earlier, Yahua issued a statement stating that HTC's flagship mobile phone HTC U Ultra is equipped with white LEDs, which infringe on the Japanese YAG patent. A patent infringement lawsuit was filed on June 29th at the German District Court in Dusseldorf.

Nichia has accused HTC and its subsidiaries HTC Europe Co. Ltd., HTC Germany GmbH, and Digital River Ireland Ltd., the e-commerce company responsible for HTC's European online store operations, infringing on the white LEDs that HTC U Ultra is equipped with. Infringement of the key patent EP 0936682 (ie German patent number DE 69702929) of YAG white LED, and requires HTC and other companies to compensate for the damage.
Nichia is not the first time to be on HTC. It was previously because of the HTC Desire 626, which was equipped with white LEDs, which involved infringing two Japanese white LED patents, and made Japan’s Yahua in October 2016. The case was filed in Tokyo, Japan, and the HTC NIPPON CORPORATION and its dealers were allegedly infringed. The court case has not been further followed.
For example, today's lawsuit between Yahua and HTC has added another case. The infringing product of this case is HTC U Ultra, the flagship machine released by HTC in January this year. Its 3D water glass design is eye-catching, and the 128GB version is even global. The first mobile phone with a sapphire glass screen. However, HTC U Ultra was infringed by Japan's Asian Chemicals in the first half of the year. Whether it will affect the sales of the mobile phone in Germany is still undetermined.
