The AS3645 Inductive Flash Driver can drive currents up to 1000 mA for single LED flash or dual LED flash environments. The high-side current source operates in two series LEDs up to 2x500 mA and one LED with up to 720 mA. When driving two series LEDs, the LEDs produce the same current and achieve output light matching and heat dissipation. The AS3645 automatically detects whether a single or dual LED mode is available for direct one-touch flash mode. Its range of safety features prevents circuit damage and improves test time, including programmable current limit, automatic test (LED open/short detection), overvoltage and undervoltage, overtemperature, and autoflash time for LED thermal protection when flashing Timer.
These features are ideal for camera phone flash, especially smartphones and multifunction phones. For other devices such as digital cameras, camcorders and PDAs, the AS3645 flash drive is also the perfect solution. Its high-efficiency 2 MHz fixed-frequency DC-DC boost converter with soft-start requires only a small inductor and can be easily integrated into noise-sensitive RF systems. High-power LED flash current sources are available in flash, torch and assist (video) light modes. An additional current source can drive an optional LED indicator. Control can be implemented in parallel interface mode for simple integration or more comprehensive control of current and time settings via I2C interface mode. The interface can be selected via a dedicated pin (I2C/EN).
The AS3645 is available in a small WL-CSP (3x4 ball 0.5 mm pitch, 2x1.6 mm) package and operates from -30° to 85°C (ambient).
