Respecting intellectual property rights and encouraging product creation is the significance of LED industry protection. Patent disputes in the LED industry have long been nothing new. From chips to packaging to materials, the “patent war†has been accompanied by the development of the entire industry.
When talking about the patent war, I have to talk about Nichia. All along, Nichia has spared no effort in the development of new technologies and the layout of core patents, that is, the ability and persistence of basic research innovation, and its strongest advantage from other emerging competitive pressures.
Recently, Nichia has once again become the focus of attention in the LED industry.
On June 13, 2016, Nichia Chemical in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas sued three LED lighting distributors in the local market for infringement of its LED patents. These three companies are respectively US LED lighting distributor Feit Electric (previously has been Yahua has been accused of, and the retailer of LED lighting and other commodities in the United States, Lowe's company and its product sales center LG Sourcing (LGS), LED lighting distributor Mary Elle Fashions, Inc, the commercial name is Meridian Electric (Meridian) .
Nichia said that the allegations against the above-mentioned manufacturers were infringement of US Patent No. 8,530,250.
Nichia's law firm, the Minister of Knowledge, Akutagawa, proposed Fett's "BPOM60/830/LED lamp", Lloyd's "Utilitech Pro 24-bar lamp"; Meridian's "decorative pleated LED night light and LED26W Equivalent energy-saving lamps have infringed our patents. The court is required to issue an injunction (banned sale) related products. At the same time, the above-mentioned manufacturers were pursued, and the losses caused by the infringement against Japan in the past period.
In addition, Japan’s statement also repeatedly stressed that Nichia has adopted a positive attitude toward the protection of its patents and intellectual property rights, regardless of whether the state will resort to action against the infringing object.
In less than three days, Nichia Chemical announced on June 16 (today) that it had filed a lawsuit against the British company in the High Court of London's Patent Court in violation of the Japanese patent for LED. The defendant's company is B&Q PLC, a UK DIY distributor.
Nichia said that the LED products sold by British B&Q PLC infringed three LED patents for YAG phosphors.
The patent numbers that are violated are European Patent Nos.: European Patents Nos. 0936682, 2197053, and 2276080 (YAG-based phosphor patents).
