Water efficiency rating will soon be implemented in the water purifier market no longer sand

According to the China Water Purifier Market Prospects and Investment Opportunities Report published by the China Business Research Institute, the water purifier market in China reached 27.1 billion yuan in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 33.2%. China Water Purifier in 2018 The sales scale will exceed 33 billion yuan. This number is not surprising. In fact, more and more families are now equipped with water purifiers, or are starting to pick them up—after all, in their view, nothing is more important than the water quality of the entrance.

But the question is, is there any standard in the water purifier market? How many people know how to buy a water purifier?

Mandatory national standard delineation of water efficiency control red line

On November 2 last year, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the National Standards Committee issued the national standard GB34914-2017 "Restriction of water efficiency limit and water efficiency rating of reverse osmosis water purifier". This standard is to implement the most stringent water management system, and has drawn a red line that strictly controls water efficiency. It will be implemented in November 2018.

With the improvement of residents' living standards, people pay more and more attention to the quality of drinking water, and the demand and consumption of water purifiers continue to grow. Among them, the reverse osmosis water purifier has a high quality of effluent, and the current market share has reached 60%, with nearly 4,000 production companies and annual sales of more than 10 million units. This kind of product uses reverse osmosis membrane as the main purification component, through multi-stage filtration, to achieve purification purposes, and at the same time produce partially concentrated wastewater.

On the one hand, the new national standard stipulates the detection and calculation methods of water efficiency. On the other hand, the water efficiency is divided into five levels, from level 1 to level 5, respectively, 60%, 55%, 50%, 45% and 35%, level 5 It is the red line of the water production rate, that is, the water efficiency limit value. By setting the water efficiency limit value, at least 30% of high-water-consuming products will be eliminated, and the annual water-saving amount will be estimated to exceed 100 million cubic meters. According to the survey, the average efficiency of water purifiers sold in the domestic market is less than 20%. It is expected that the standard will double by an average of 40%.

At the same time, the standard also sets advanced water-saving values, leading the industry's water efficiency. The water efficiency standard of reverse osmosis water purifier is 25%, that is, the water saving evaluation value is 55%. As an advanced indicator for leading high-efficiency water-saving products, enterprises will be encouraged to improve technology and achieve higher water efficiency by improving the overall quality of products.

How to choose a water purifier expert for your tricks

First of all, you should choose according to the specific conditions of the water quality in your area. In view of Tianjin, experts believe that the water quality in the north is hard, but the relative pollution is not serious, and the quality of tap water in residents' homes is acceptable. According to the core technology, water purifiers can be divided into ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. Ultrafiltration machines are devices that use ultrafiltration to purify water. The nanofiltration water purifier adopts a nanofiltration membrane as a driving force with a pressure difference as a driving force, and the filtering method is a nanofiltration membrane filtering water purifier. Reverse osmosis is a process in which a pressure higher than the osmotic pressure is used as a driving force, and the selective membrane is only permeable to water and cannot pass through the selective permeability of the solute, and the water molecules are separated from the solute phase from the water. The reverse osmosis water purifier not only removes impurities, rust, colloids, bacteria, and viruses, but also removes radioactive particles, organic substances, fluorescent substances, and pesticides harmful to the human body, and removes nasty water and alkali and heavy metals. In general, reverse osmosis water purifiers have better purification effects and are relatively expensive. However, for the water quality in the north, the water purifiers such as ultrafiltration and nanofiltration can also meet daily life. It is not necessary to choose the reverse osmosis water purifier with the strongest purification ability. In fact, many people have suggested that long-term consumption of tap water filtered by reverse osmosis water purifier may lead to the loss of trace elements in the human body.

Second, consider the flux of the water purifier. The so-called flux, that is, the flow rate, the amount of water filtered by the water purifier in a certain period of time. The large-flux product has similar effects to the tap when it comes out, giving the consumer a better experience. At present, large-volume products are already one of the important development trends in the water purifier market. However, due to the moderate technical threshold of large-throughput products and the increasing scale of products, the return to price may not be high.

Third, after the introduction of the new national standard, water efficiency will become one of the most important concerns for consumers to purchase. Experts suggest that from a water saving point of view, of course, products with higher water efficiency levels are more worth buying, but on the other hand, the higher the water efficiency level, the more expensive the product is, so it is necessary to integrate their own budget. In addition, it is unreasonable to blindly focus on the water efficiency level. This is because the purification efficiency is not only related to the technical capability of the product, but also closely related to the water quality. The more serious the water pollution, the more the filtered wastewater. At present, the ratio of pure water and wastewater in the market is one-to-one, and more and more brands are moving toward a standard of three to one, or even four to one.

Fourth, pay attention to the life of the filter when purchasing the water purifier. Some people said that after the new national standard has landed, some companies with weak technical strength may sacrifice the life of the filter core in order to pursue high-efficiency products. For example, the product itself should be replaced with a filter element for three years, but due to the pressure of high water efficiency, the service life of the filter element is greatly reduced, and it needs to be replaced again in one year. This is not worth the loss for the consumer. After all, the filter element is a few hundred yuan. More than a thousand dollars.

In addition, in terms of brand selection, experts said that the products of big brands are still relatively more guaranteed. For consumers who are reluctant to focus on selecting products, well-known brands are even more reliable than water efficiency ratings.

Finally, experts suggest that consumers, water purifiers are not the more expensive the price, the better the consumption concept of different groups of people. The pursuit of quality of life, economic conditions are also relatively good, you can choose a slightly higher price, brand awareness of the water purification brand; and there is a certain demand for clean water, the budget is not too many people, you can consider a comprehensive brand or The cost-effective products of non-professional water purification brands are actually enough for daily use.

Water efficiency standards will become "identification"

It is worth noting that there are currently 8 water efficiency standards, including toilets, faucets, washing machines, water purifiers, showers, urinals, squatting pans, toilet flushing valves, among which faucets, urinals, The squatting and toilet flush valve plans are being revised, and two national standards for dishwasher and rotary sprinkler water efficiency are being developed.

At present, consumers' water efficiency concept is still weak. For example, washing machines, consumers care about whether this washing machine is clean? Very few people will pay attention to whether it is water-saving.” Liu Buchen, a senior observer in the household appliance industry, said that With the improvement of living standards, more new products will enter life, and consumers will also establish concepts that they have never had before. The state guides consumers to pay attention to water efficiency by formulating water efficiency standards. This change must firstly transition from a young, high-level knowledge to an older, knowledge-savvy consumer.

"Standard" is about to become "identity." On September 13, 2017, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Water Resources and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine jointly issued the “Measures for the Management of Water Efficiency Labels”, and the mandatory national standards for water efficiency as the basis and basis for the implementation of the water efficiency labeling system. The standard implements a water efficiency label for the water purifier. It is understood that the company will also self-declare the water efficiency rating and main water consumption indicators of the reverse osmosis water purifier by pasting the water efficiency label, and accept market and consumer supervision. According to estimates, the implementation of the water efficiency label can save 6 billion tons of water per year.

The overall price of the water purifier will rise by one or two percent.

As is well known in the industry, the technical threshold of water purifiers is actually not high. Although the national standard has put water efficiency standards up, it has not been unattainable for many large enterprises to implement technical difficulties. Therefore, more people believe that the new national standard is very obvious for the industry's normative role, and will play a leading role in the high-end products of the entire industry.

One of the biggest concerns for consumers is price. Then, after the implementation of the new national standard, will the price of the water purifier rise? The experts admit that the price increase in the entire market is inevitable. However, the flag said that the so-called price increase is not the simple price increase of the original old products, but the new products of all brands will have more expensive pricing. "On the one hand, in the past two years, various raw materials and even artificial prices have risen, which have a significant impact on the pricing of end products; on the other hand, the new national standard will also drive sales of high-end products, so that its market share has risen sharply. Even Xiaomi et al. A cost-effective brand is forced to develop in a high-end direction due to cost pressures."

Under the above influence, after the implementation of the new national standard, the average price of the products in the entire market may rise by one to two percent.

The parameter virtual label problem needs time to "smooth"

In the interview, the reporter found that the reverse osmosis water purifier produces more wastewater, which has become a major pain point in the market. “When I bought a water purifier, the sales said that the ratio of pure water to wastewater was one to one, but in actual use, I think it must be at least one to three, and the ratio is somewhat false.”

"The situation of pure waste is more than the virtual standard." The general manager of the environmental power unit of Aowei Yunwang believes that after the implementation of the new national standard, it is difficult to improve the problem in the short term. “In 2015, the air purifier market also issued a new national standard, which also has the relevant content of energy efficiency rating. However, in the sampling inspection after the implementation of the standard, we found that there are still some enterprises with the problem of virtual standard parameters.”

The flag believes that it takes a while for the water purifier national standard to be implemented from the implementation to the fully regulated market. The industry will have a large-scale reshuffle within one year after the implementation of the national standard, and will be affected in the next two or three years. "The reason why the new national standard was implemented in November is that I believe that the water efficiency is limited by the water structure and the characteristics of the membrane. I hope to give the company some buffer time. Once the new national standard is implemented, the formal channel will be reshuffled relatively quickly. However, there are still some informal enterprises such as the rural market, which will continue to operate in the short term, so the problem of the virtual standard will not change immediately; but in the long run, the products of the small channel brand will be cleared on a large scale. ”

"Pure waste ratio"

VS

"Water efficiency" seamless conversion

The first national mandatory standard for the water purification industry, “Restriction of water efficiency and water efficiency rating of reverse osmosis water purifiers” was officially released and will be implemented in November this year. This means that the state will impose mandatory water conservation requirements on the production and sales of reverse osmosis water purifiers. This standard will force the water purifier manufacturers to carry out technological innovations to improve the water-saving performance of the products.

Due to its technical characteristics, reverse osmosis water purifiers will definitely discharge wastewater. Prior to the release of the standard, the term “pure waste ratio” was often used in the industry to characterize water use. Then, what is the difference between the “water efficiency” in the new national standard and the “pure waste ratio” that the industry originally used?

First, the test conditions and normative

The “waste water ratio” is self-identified by each manufacturer and has not undergone rigorous testing, only a rough proportion. The “water effect” needs to be tested in strict accordance with the test conditions stipulated in the Water Efficiency Standard.

Second, the nominal requirements are different

"Pure waste ratio" is the manufacturer's own nominal, the country does not have a requirement to be certain. After the “water efficiency” mark is implemented, each reverse osmosis water purifier must be marked in a conspicuous position.

Third, the representation is different

The “pure waste ratio” is expressed in a proportional manner. For example, if 1 part of purified water is prepared, 3 parts of wastewater are discharged, and the pure waste ratio is expressed by 1:3. The “water efficiency” is expressed as a percentage. If the water efficiency is 60%, it means that the raw water is 60%, and the discharged wastewater is 40%.

Fourth, the meaning is different

Water efficiency is the utilization efficiency of water resources. It is the ratio of the amount of purified water obtained to the total amount of water consumed. If the water purifier has a flushing function, the flushing water should be calculated in the total influent.

The “pure waste ratio” only examines the ratio of the amount of purified water produced by the reverse osmosis membrane to the amount of wastewater discharged, and the water consumed by the water purifier when flushing is not included. Therefore, it cannot reflect water. The utilization efficiency of resources is only an operating parameter of the reverse osmosis water purifier.

5. There is a minimum limit on water efficiency, and there is no “pure waste ratio”.

The new national standard stipulates that reverse osmosis water purifiers with a water efficiency lower than 35% (grade 5) are prohibited from being produced and sold. There is no minimum limit for the “pure waste ratio”.
