China has built the world's largest photovoltaic power generation base

According to the Xinhua News Agency, Xining, on March 3, the national authorities launched a photovoltaic grid power station with more than 1,000 megawatts of grid-connected electricity in the Qaidam Basin of Qinghai Province under the promotion of favorable policies such as the “universal nationwide feed-in tariff” of photovoltaic power generation projects. It has become the most concentrated area of ​​solar photovoltaic installed capacity in the world.

“As of now, there are 44 photovoltaic power stations that have been connected to the grid for power generation in Qinghai Province, and the total installed capacity has reached 1003 megawatts,” said Yu Xiaoming, director of the Energy Bureau of the Qinghai Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

According to the information provided by the Energy Bureau of Qinghai Province, after the grid-connected photovoltaic power station is generating power, the estimated power generation accounts for approximately 4% of the total power generation in Qinghai Province, while the photovoltaic power generation capacity accounts for 7% of the total installed capacity in Qinghai. According to the conversion of power generation in Qinghai Province in 2011, the annual output of a gigawatt photovoltaic power station is approximately 1.8 billion kwh.

"Compared with the same amount of power generation, the annual saving of standard coal is 500,000 tons, and the smoke and dust emissions are 6,900 tons of sulfur dioxide, 5,700 tons of carbon dioxide, 1.54 million tons." Yu Xiaoming said that during the "12th Five-Year Plan" period, Qinghai plans to install photovoltaic power generation capacity. Expanded to 4,000 megawatts, by then, solar clean energy will account for about 15% of total energy in Qinghai.
