Nowadays, the technology and application of video conferencing have become more and more mature, and video conferencing has gradually become the “standard configuration†of major enterprises and institutions, and gradually extended to a wider field. Although video conferencing has been widely popularized at present, in practical applications, the results of conferences are often poor due to network reasons, such as image quality degradation and dropouts during conferences. So how to properly solve this problem? The following five steps let you get rid of many troubles in video conferencing applications.
Step 1: Generally speaking, image quality degradation is one of the problems that often occur in the use of video conferencing. In addition to the quality of the network itself, whether the switch port duplex negotiation is correct and whether there are redundant routes or dual-link networks have also become The key factors that affect the image effect.
Step 2: During the investigation, the results of the network port negotiation can be seen from the MCU and the terminal, and the duplex negotiation mode can be viewed on the port of the switch. Generally manageable switches can check the current duplex mode of the switch port through commands, for example: 100Mbps-speedmode, full-duplexmode. It should be noted that if the MCU or terminal is configured with 100M full-duplex mode and the switch port is auto, then the switch port will be negotiated as 100M half-duplex. In this case, the network will experience packet loss and other problems, resulting in Mosaic appears on the screen, and even the screen freezes. Faced with this problem, you only need to manually reset the switch port to match the MCU or terminal, and the problem will be solved.
Step 3: Facing the problem of dual-link analysis is particularly complex and critical. First, you need to recognize that there is a difference between redundancy routing and load balancing. The redundant route is one line acTIve, the other line standby. Load balancing is two lines simultaneously acTIve, specifically divided into load balancing based on data flow and load balancing based on data packets. Based on the load balance of the data flow, the network equipment automatically distributes the traffic according to the line load, and each session path is the same. Based on the load balancing of data packets, the network equipment distributes the load evenly. Each data packet has one path, and each session may have more than two paths. When the data packets take different paths, different time differences will appear when they arrive at the destination, causing the packets to be out of order. In severe cases, the data packets will be discarded, which will lead to the disorder of the picture.
Step 4: Usually, when encountering the drop-out problem, the analysis is mainly carried out from the two levels of conference and network. When checking from the conference level, you must first observe on the MCU (such as MGC and RMX), you can see the specific reason for the terminal disconnection on the management interface. In addition, related information can also be viewed in the CDR log. Secondly, we can observe whether the connection can be reconnected immediately after the terminal is disconnected. If the connection can be reestablished immediately, it can be judged that the device itself is not faulty, and the network should be investigated to find the fault point and deal with it. If you can't establish a connection, you can use your computer or terminal to ping the drop point. If you can't ping it, you can judge it is a network failure. If you can PING pass, you need to do further testing, if serious, you can also seek help from the manufacturer.
Step 5: To check from the network, first of all, you need to collect the necessary network data, such as the network topology diagram, circuit conditions and equipment layout, etc., and observe the disconnection through a simple test. If it is a large-area drop rather than an individual drop, then the failure point may occur at the convergence layer or core layer of the network. In addition, you can also use the point-to-point ping of the video IP network segment to open the ping monitoring network in the conference: Pingip–t–l1260》 test.txt. If there is packet loss at the same time, the problem occurs on L2 / L3. If it is not found Packet loss, the problem may be above L4.
