The MAX16824/MAX16825 are 3-channel, LED drivers that operate from a 6.5V to 28V input voltage range. Both devices offer three open-drain, fixed sink current outputs that provide a current rating of 36V and up to 150mA for each string of high-brightness LEDs (HB LEDs). Each output current can be set by an external current-sense resistor. The MAX16824 features three PWM inputs that control the duty cycle of the output current for LED dimming over a wide range. The PWM input also provides on/off control for each output. The MAX16825 provides a 4-wire serial interface, a 3-bit shift register, and a 3-bit transparent latch. The serial port allows the microcontroller to configure the output channels through four inputs (DIN, CLK, LE, and active low OE) and one data output (DOUT).
The MAX16824/MAX16825 have built-in trim tubes that minimize the number of external components and provide ±5% LED output current accuracy. The device also includes +5V (±5%) regulated output and thermal protection for 4mA output current.
The MAX16824/MAX16825 are available in a thermally enhanced, 16-pin TSSOP-EP package and operate over the -40°C to +125°C temperature range.
