Gene Munster, an analyst at Loup Ventures, released a survey report on the 21st and found that after surveying 520 U.S. consumers, it was found that 31% of the respondents had smart speakers, of which Amazon ’s “Amazon Echo†accounted for the highest, coming to 55%. Next is Alphabet ’s “Google Home†(23%) and Microsoft ’s “Cortana†(15%). HomePod accounted for 3% of the market, and "other brands" accounted for 4%.
In terms of user satisfaction, 89% of respondents with smart speakers said they were satisfied (59%) or very satisfied (30%). Munster believes that consumers have little expectations for smart speakers, and the tasks they are required to perform are quite simple, so it is not surprising that satisfaction is so high.
For example, after Cortana was tested by Loup Ventures, the overall performance score was only 57%, which did not meet the passing standard. However, Cortana is still capable of playing SpoTIfy's music list, weather forecasting, and answering simple questions.
The survey also showed that nearly 40% of the respondents said they would use smart speakers to listen to music, which is also the most commonly used function by users. In addition, slightly over 30% of the respondents claimed to use smart speakers to listen to weather forecasts, and 10% would use sports / news, communication, smart home remote control and other functions.
The survey also showed that consumers' demand for voice control is quite strong, the popularity of smart speakers has surpassed that of smart phones, and most users say they do not want to return to the world without smart speakers.
