Latest Solar Inverter Design Trends

Overview:
Increasing energy costs have accelerated the development of renewable energy such as solar and wind energy, and sparked a discussion of its key development technologies – inverter design – higher power, greater input voltage range, and higher efficiency. How to design an inverter that meets the above requirements? Please read the trend of inverter design in this article...

Solar power is becoming a viable alternative energy source due to rising energy costs. The German government has passed legislation to introduce various incentives to actively encourage the use of renewable energy (such as the “Renewable Energy Law” “Energieeinspeisungsgesetz”). As a result, by 2007, the country has been the world's largest solar market. Now, other countries have surpassed Germany. For example, Spain has the world's largest number of new solar power plants in 2008, while installed solar power capacity in Italy, France and the United States is expected to increase significantly. A variety of incentives drive demand higher, which in turn stimulates capacity growth. However, due to the recent global economic crisis and the sudden withdrawal of Spain's incentives for the solar market in 2008, the supply of solar chips exceeded demand, resulting in a 40%-50% drop in prices. This brings photovoltaic technology closer to the so-called "grid parity" goal, which means that solar power costs are comparable to current electricity market prices. It is expected that in 2015, Germany will be able to achieve a uniform electricity price.

The solar module generates a DC voltage, which is then converted by the solar inverter into AC power and then connected to the grid. This article will explore the latest trends in solar inverter design.

One of the important trends is the use of higher power. Nowadays, solar power plants with peak power generation exceeding 100 kW are becoming more common, and smaller power generation systems also have this trend: the average power is increased from 5 kWp to 10 kWp.
