Smart grid is the development direction of power industry

As of the end of 2010, China’s total installed capacity of power generation reached 960 million kilowatts, of which coal power was 650 million kilowatts, wind power was 31 million, natural gas was 27 million, and solar energy was 260,000. Hao Jihong, Director of the Science and Technology Center of China Electricity Council, said at the summit meeting of the national wire and cable product quality improvement work conference that China’s installed capacity of non-fossil energy reached 27.7%, indicating that the development of new energy is relatively fast. Industry is shifting from large UHV units to green generation and UHV smart grids.

Hao Jihong said that China’s power grid scale is the world’s largest, with 3.617 billion cubic meters of electrical capacity and 3135 kilowatt-hours per capita. The power industry has developed very rapidly in the past 10 years. From 2005, China's installed capacity is basically developing at a rate of nearly one billion yuan each year. Hao Jihong proposed to promote the development of green power generation. The principle is to give priority to the development of hydropower, optimize the development of coal-fired power, develop nuclear power efficiently, actively promote new energy generation, and develop bio-based power generation according to local conditions. From the aspect of power grid construction, it is necessary to promote the coordinated development of power grids at all levels, strengthen the construction of provincial-level 500 kV power grids, and strengthen the power grid renovation projects in key cities while simultaneously promoting the development of intelligence.
