Rohde & Schwarz launches IEEE 802.11ac signaling tester

Rohde & Schwarz's CMW500 wireless tester now mimics the IEEE 802.11ac compliant WLAN network. This allows the CMW500 test platform to support all current cellular and non-cellular wireless communication standards. All tests, including interoperability tests, are required for modules with multiple wireless interfaces with just one test instrument.

Many WLAN module vendors limit their terminals or modules to testing using conventional WLAN access points, but such practices are not compliant, such as coexistence testing of modules under test that are connected to WLAN and other wireless communication technologies. If the user has an unrestricted connection stack, as the R&S CMW-KS656 option provides, they can easily eliminate incompatibilities. This upgrade of the protocol stack capability can meet future testing needs and is a safe investment.

In the signaling mode, the R&S CMW wireless tester can be used to perform performance tests in addition to the RF characteristics of the transceiver. It can test the application scenario and the WLAN connection speed in the real environment conforming to the IEEE 802.11ac standard.

Use only a single interoperability test

The R&S CMW500 Wireless Tester can be used to test very complex test cases, such as testing LTE-WLAN offloading or analyzing the terminal's coexistence interface. The coexistence interface should be isolated as far as possible. This situation will occur when multiple wireless technologies are simultaneously connected, such as when a smart phone or tablet simultaneously turns on the WLAN and mobile communication network functions. These test scenarios will help developers solve these problems early in the product development process, which will have a positive and significant impact on the success of the product in the market.
