The cold current caused South Korea to use electricity to speed up the LED lighting market

According to South Korea’s “Korean Daily”, the South Korean power supply has been “red light” due to the recent strong cold. The South Korean government has urgently introduced energy-saving and throttling measures to control the heating temperature of public construction users such as shopping malls and supermarkets with a large electricity consumption below 20 degrees Celsius, and also adjusted the subway operation interval.

According to reports, the South Korean government held a state conference in Cheong Wa Dae on the 18th, and issued the 2011 Energy Demand Outlook and Countermeasures containing the above contents.

According to this regulation, the Korean government will specify 441 units of energy consumption exceeding 2000 TOE (ton of oil equivalent, 1 ton of crude oil), and require indoors from these 24th to February 18th. The temperature is controlled below 20 degrees Celsius. Among them, including department stores, 174 large supermarkets, 113 business facilities, and 68 educational facilities. The government will also conduct on-site inspections and impose a fine of 3 million won (about RMB 18,000) on units that violate the regulations.

In addition, the South Korean government decided to extend the subway operation interval in the metropolitan area by one to three minutes during the lunchtime period (from 10:00 to 12:00). In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the supervision of energy efficiency labeling products to curb the recent surge in the use of heating appliances.

A government-related person said: "The content of the advertisements that exaggerate the publicity of electric heating and consumption of electricity will be corrected." The government also plans to provide high-performance electrical products for the low-income class of low-income or low-income electrical products.

Qinghuatai spokesman Jin Jiting said: "The government is about to promote the use of high-efficiency LED bulbs to replace incandescent bulbs in traditional markets, and to provide financial assistance for the replacement of lighting and piping for aging public rental apartments."

LED lighting popularity status

South Korea has expanded the use of LED lighting fixtures around the city. For example, in the public institutions in Seoul, about 160,000 lighting fixtures (as of April 2010), about 160,000 (about 17% of the total) have been replaced with LED lighting fixtures. In addition, it is planned to replace all lighting fixtures of public institutions with LEDs by 2020. In addition, KOREA RAILROAD (KORAIL), which operates the railway, is scheduled to spend 1.38 billion won before the end of 2010, replacing the lighting fixtures of 200 vehicles equivalent to 10% of the 2000 vehicles with LEDs. After that, we plan to promote LED in stages.

However, the places where LED lighting is installed are mostly public institutions and commercial facilities, and it seems that they have not penetrated into ordinary households. Although there are many opportunities to see LED lighting fixtures in home appliance stores, due to higher prices, etc., the penetration rate in ordinary households is currently only 2%.

In order to promote the spread of LED lighting, the Korea Ministry of Knowledge Economy plans to provide subsidies for LED lighting purchasers for chicken farms, houses, and shopping malls, and to provide "ESCO" financing for large-scale private buildings.

According to the blueprint for the development of lighting LEDs developed by the Korean government, Seoul City is also promoting the project of replacing lighting fixtures with LEDs. One of the goals of making 100% LED lighting in 2020 is one of them.

At the end of 2010, Seoul City promoted the “LED Lighting Building Energy Rationalization Business Cooperation Program”. The aim is to control climate change and the expansion of energy consumption.
