Yum CEO: AI and robots will replace humans in the fast food industry in ten years

Greg Creed, chief executive of Yum! Group, told CNBC on Tuesday that artificial intelligence, robotics and automation will replace humans in the fast food industry in the mid-1920s.

Creed said several of his own fast-food restaurant brands, including Pizza Hut, KFC and tacobell, have set up kiosks in Shanghai, China. Here, a robot can serve consumers.

Wall Street heard earlier that China Baidu cooperated with KFC to solve the pain points of traditional management. Relying on Baidu's artificial intelligence robotic assistants, the two sides jointly created the first personal smart offline service scene in the chain catering industry – the first concept store “Original+”. The secretive robot is based on natural language processing, voice, and image technology, and is embodied in KFC employees. Consumers provide services. Consumers can use everyday language to interact with secrets to complete the entire process from ordering to payment.

In addition, KFC's online marketing can also be real-time dynamic modeling and real-time matching calculations through Baidu's brain, matching the right content to the right consumers, and the content can be in line with the user's current interest, and ultimately achieve potential consumption. Accurate conversion of groups.

In fact, robots have been widely used in factories around the world and they pose a threat to human work. In 2016, manufacturing giant Foxconn used robots to replace 60,000 workers at factories in Jiangsu, China, and the number of employees decreased from 110,000 to 50,000. The German sporting goods giant Adidas has announced that it will use robots for production. Basically, robots are distributing goods in Amazon warehouses.

Although AI is in danger, Creed believes that this does not mean that humans will be "useless." He said: "Until the customer requests, we will make changes. It is not yet clear that we will use robots to replace people." Creed believes that technological advancement will ultimately reduce human workload. "I don't think technology will change people's jobs in the short term."

Creed's statement is in contrast with the US Treasury Secretary, Stann Mnuchin, who had expressed no concern about artificial intelligence technology. At least 50 to 100 years, artificial intelligence will not change human work.

Creed told CNBC that he did not agree with Nuchin's point of view. He believed that this kind of substitution would occur earlier. He also said: “We will see a tremendous change in the way the machine works.”

The market research organization's report also supports Creed's point of view. According to Forester's forecast last year, by 2021, AI will replace 6% of all jobs. PricewaterhouseCoopers also predicted that AI may replace 38% of US jobs in the next 15 years.
